The Byzantine Roman Empire aka Eastern Roman Empire did become known but the Roman Empire did not seperate till much later because Julius Caesar came into power in the 6th century bc.The Eastern Roman Empire lasted till 1453 and the Western Roman Empire fell a century or two before that.
