The project is supporting a flurry of building activity in the way of underground parking places, theaters, commercial centers, and casinos. Viseu is the birthplace of Viriato, who is considered one of Portugal's most ancient heroes. Its churches include some of the most beautiful paintings by Vasco Fernandes [c. 1475-c. 1542].
