What belief did the Soviet Union have during World War 2?

During World War II, the Soviet Union held the belief that communism would eventually spread all over the world. Initially, it had a pact with Germany, and considered becoming part of the Axis. However, the pact that Stalin had made with Hitler dissolved when Germany attacked Russia. The invasion spiked nationalism, and the civilians rallied to protect Mother Russia from the German invaders. At this point, Russia joined forces with the Allies.

The Soviet Union (Советский Союз; Sovetsky Soyuz), officially known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик; Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik; also known as the USSR, СССР or SSSR) was formed in 1922, and collasped in 1991.

The goal of the Soviet Union was to develop a strong state, that would eventually spread across the globe. Karl Marx, the main phylosopher behind the Communist Mannifesto (co-written by Fredrick Engles) and founder of Communism, was one of the influences behind this theory of communistic-globalization. It is important to note that the Soviet Union, while it is currently the closest example of a Marxist state to exist, differentiates in a HUGE way. The Marxist state has never existed, and in some respect, never can, because Marx said the state would cease to exist in a true communistic nation, and thus, is a parodoxal concept.

The Beliefs of the Soviet Union during WWII:

When the Soviet Union formed, the lead revolutionary Vladimir Ilyich Lenin became the leader of the Soviet Union. Known widely by his political identity "Lenin," he believed that the Leninist-Marxist branch of Communism would obliterate poverty, inequality, and restore the Russian economy through Authoritarian rule.

The Soviet Government followed Marx's idea of religion; that it was "the opium of the people" and that the people should live and die for the glory of the Soviet Union, rather than a deity. In this way, the Soviet Union banned religion, and any other forces that could hurt the nationalism toward the USSR.
