Freedom African Americans have had a long struggle in America, being first regarded, by the dominant European Americans, as a type of domestic animal, then as an inferior type of human being, and finally being recognized as people who have the same rights and value as any other type of person. This evolution has taken hundreds of years and is not entirely complete, even now (although the election of an African American President is a significant milestone).
There have been many, from the colonial era to present day nationalist movements. However, arguably the most prominent would be the civil rights movement of the mid-twentieth centurty. The civil rights movement of the 1950s to 1960s resulted in American civic nationalism prevailing over ethnic nationalism, as legal barriers preventing African Americans from attaining the full citizenship were removed, officially enfranchising African Americans as equal citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution.
The most common blood type among African Americans is O positive.
Blood type AB is the most common among humans of all races. A and B blood types are about even for second place and Blood type O comes in third for least common.
Myeloma - or a type of blood cancer. Tends to target African Americans supposedly.

O-type blood is the most popular because it can cooperate with any other blood type. This has given it the term "the universal donor," and accounts for its being in high demand in hospitals and blood banks.

Blood type O is the most common in both the US. as well as the world. Actually type O+ is the most common. Type O- is the most common of the RH negative blood types.
Per the American Red Cross, in the U.S. 2% of Caucasians, 1% of African-Americans, 1% of Hispanics and 0.4% of the Asian population has Type B- blood.
Most Americans are Rh positive, with around 85% of the population having this blood type. Rh negative blood type is less common in the United States, with around 15% of Americans possessing it.

I would say the most uncommon blood types are the negative types. Which include O-, A-, B- and AB-. AB+ is quiet rare too but not as much as the negatives. AB- is currently the most uncommon blood type.
