Alexander Stephens was a US Congressman from Georgia. In a manner of speaking he had a friendship with Abraham Lincoln. Stephens was a man of vision and saw that succession would be a disaster for the South. He understood the outrage in Georgia when Abraham Lincoln won the presidential election.Stephens, like Lincoln were constitutional bound, and both men agreed that the US Constitution provided protections for the South. He spoke before the Georgia at the state capital to voice his opinions in the dangers of secession. He also warned that by no means should the South take up arms against the US. His speech was covered by the European press. Georgia, however, did not take Stephens words very well. He was like a man lost in the wilderness. Later, Jefferson Davis would have Stephens as his vice president.

Will your abusive ex-boyfriend ever act civil and not try to manipulate you or should you just totally avoid him as he will never just be normal?

Sure, he can ACT civil. But he'll never BE civil. Unless he gets himself help (psychiatric, anger management, etc.) he will never change. Some abusers don't even change WITH help. The chances of him being "normal" are pretty slim. Avoid him and move on. Much luck to you, ~ T

What is the role of an affirmative defense in civil cases?

An affirmative defense in civil cases is a legal argument raised by the defendant to counter or justify their actions. It shifts the burden of proof to the defendant to prove their defense, rather than the plaintiff having to prove their case. This defense can help the defendant avoid liability or reduce the damages awarded in a civil case.
