Savannah did send representatives to the Continental Congress, they had secret meetings of the Sons of Liberty in Tondee's Tavern, and they were attacked from all sides by the British troops. The worse fighting was known as the Seige of Savannah in 1779. The British evaculated Savannah on July 11, 1782 and scattered the Americans into the backwoods. Of course the peace treaty was signed in 1783, and many people made their way back to the city.
