Breakfast was an important meal for laborers, so serfs ate it, but the nobility avoided it in many parts of the middle ages for exactly the same reason.

Breakfast consisted of something to get a body moving in the morning. It could be gruel, porridge, stew, or eggs with bread, not all that unlike what it is today, though the porridge might have been "pease porridge cold" left over from some earlier meal. And yes, if it was reheated daily, it could keep for nine days.
