The Japanese believed that the citizens of the United States were too racially impure to be able to endure such an attack, especially while involved in a war in Europe. They wanted to control the Pacific and believed that they could force the U.S. out of Hawaii by bombing our interests. Instead, the bombing of Hawaii only caused the U.S. to declare war on Japan and eventually resulted in the death of so many innocent people.
