Physics, psychology, mathematics, geography, Biology, marine studies, algebra, chemistry, technical drawing, perspective drawing, Photography, computer studies, languages, vehicle maintenance, palaeontology, Egyptology and interplanetary exploration are just few of the many hundreds of subjects not traditionally taught to Plains children.

They did learn about hardening their bodies to cope with cold, they learned quick reactions, accuracy with a spear or bow, speed in running, agility on a horse, how to shoot a quiver of arrows in very rapid succession, how to track game animals, how to move silently and keep out of sight, how to light a fire and cook meat and many other useful skills.

Girls learned equally important life skills such as sewing and tanning leather, quill work and bead work, cooking, digging for wild roots, how to erect a tipi and much more.
