This would have been a noble who was a knight. All others were usually peasants who made up the balance of the army. There was no true "soldiers" as we know them. When a war happened all were expected to take part. Men took the tools they used and used them as weapons.
There is no one term for that, a brave solider would be a knight, or a squire.
