Important to who? The Aztecs probably would have thought your calendar was pretty unimportant. The Aztecs themselves considered their calendar extremely important, because it documented the cycles of the world and the powers of the gods. Non-Aztecs consider the Aztec calendar important because it was very sophisticated and accurate for a non-modern society. Accurate in the sense that it kept good time, not in the sense that it made accurate "predictions".
The importance or relevance of the social structures of the Romans can have a two sided answer. On the one hand, its hard to see how the structure of a society that thrived over 2,700 years ago has any importance whatsoever to our lives today, except for possibly passing a history exam. But on the other hand, a study of any society gives us insights into their character and a picture of their faults and their successes. We can emulate their successes and learn from their mistakes. Class or social structure is the core of any society, so by examining and evaluating them, we get insights and possible directions for our own society.

Through detailed descriptions of language, customs, and relationships, she brings to life the everyday struggles and triumphs of her characters, highlighting the complexities of their existence in a changing world. Her emphasis on the mundane details of life serves to illuminate deeper truths about identity, community, and power dynamics in society.
Baldwin and Hurston differ in their approach to race relations. While Baldwin focused on the division and discrimination faced by African Americans in America, Hurston emphasized the importance of embracing one's heritage and culture as a source of empowerment. Baldwin's views were more critical and confrontational towards white society, while Hurston's focus was on celebrating the richness of African American life. Both authors, however, highlighted the complexities and challenges of navigating race relations in America.

The stories Twain wrote were a reflection of the society he lived in. The treatment of slaves is addressed and the southern life along the Mississippi. I wouldn't say that the characters were valuable to society, but they reflect the that society.
