In July 1941, the United States, Gr. Britain, & the Netherlands (in exile) embargoed cotton, petroleum, & scrap metal as a way to "leverage" the Japanese to curtain their war effort in China. As we know from history, not only did it not work, but pushed the Japanese towards war with the Allies. For further reading I respectfully suggest: Ten Years In Japan by Joseph C. Grew New York Simon & Schuster 1944 Mr. Grew was our ambassador to Japan during the FDR Administration.

What is law tablet?

It is a symbol of the French Revolution. It means the law is the same for all, and all are equal before it, regardless of their gender, religion, socio-economic status, etc. The law tablet is made of stone. This means no one can break it (stone is hard to break) and law cannot be defying equality.

Did Germany and japan break the Allied codes in WW 2?

Japan was notoriously negligent in this kind of work. They hardly put in the effort and did not break any important codes. Germany did a much better job in breaking Allied codes, but there were quite a number of them amongst the Allies and they never broke anything as important as their own Ultra code. But they did for instance for a time break the British naval code and the US code for diplomatic messages.

Why did feudalism break down in japan?

Very simple. Remember Japan was completely isolated from westerner culture during the 1850s. The US made several attempts to trade with Japan yet, they refused. While other nations were developing, Japan was falling behind both economically and socially. What japan did is adapt to western culture. they sent advisors to the US and various parts of the world to observe and went back to Japan to actualize it. But that meant that the social structures would have to be taken down and succumb to modernism. Therefore little by little the japanese feudalism began to break into little pieces little by little.
