State's Rights has diminished much more greatly than ever, probably in the last 2-3 decades. Marshall's desire to strengthen the federal government was crucial during the early years of the nation because it helped establish a strong central authority necessary for maintaining order and unity among the states. His rulings promoted the idea of federal supremacy, ensuring that federal laws took precedence over state laws, which was vital for addressing issues like commerce and interstate disputes. This foundation fostered a more cohesive national identity and facilitated economic growth, laying the groundwork for the future expansion of federal powers. Ultimately, his vision helped define the balance between state and federal authority in the evolving American political landscape.
