In the early twentieth century, the American Dream evolved as a result of rapid industrialization, urbanization, and significant Immigration. Many people sought economic opportunities and social mobility, but the realities of poverty, labor exploitation, and social inequality often challenged this ideal. The Great Depression in the 1930s further disillusioned many, leading to a reevaluation of what the American Dream truly meant, as dreams of prosperity clashed with harsh economic realities.
