What happened to the Jewish people in Germany after world war 2?

From the end of World War 1 (1918) till Hitler came to power (1933) they lived normal lives and, on the whole, were integrated into German society. There were various anti-Jewish conspiracy theories circulating, but very few Jews felt threatened before 1933.

After the start of World War 2, very few German Jews were able to leave the country. They were in effect trapped in Germany. There were banned from city centres, had to move into designated areas or appartment blocks, were forbidden to own radios or pets, forbidden to earn a living wage, to enter shops before 3.30pm ... and ultimately they were deported to Latvia and shot there or sent to Auschwitz.

When Hitler came to power in Germany, he began many restrictions on German Jews. He used his Propaganda machine to humiliate Jews and used his storm troopers to kill and harass German Jews. Later of course, he began a genocide policy to eradicate all Jews in Germany and in countries the Nazi's occupied in WW 2.
