Sarah Josepha Hale was the editor of Ladies' Magazine, the most influential women's magazine in America. She was also the author of "Mary Had a Little Lamb."Ms Hale launched a campaign in 1827 for Thanksgiving to to be declared a national holiday. She published editorials and sent many letters to senators, presidents and other politicians for 36 years. Finally in 1863, President Lincoln headed her requests and scheduled the final Thursday of November for Thanksgiving. Later, President Franklin Roosevelt moved it to the fourth Thursday of November.
