She published editorials and sent many letters to senators, presidents and other politicians for 36 years. Finally in 1863, President Lincoln headed her requests and scheduled the final Thursday of November for Thanksgiving. Later, President Franklin Roosevelt moved it to the fourth Thursday of November.
