MLB permanently retired the #42 in 1997. However, they allowed anyone who was wearing #42 at the time to continue to wear it. Mariano Rivera of the Yankees is the only player wearing #42 currently as he was in MLB at the time of its retirement. Once he retires, no one will ever again wear the #42 in MLB.

I believe you will find that the German Luger P08 went into production in the early 1900's. P08 basically refers to Pistol of 1908.The luger was used extensively during WW1 and WW2 by German forces.
it is the code name for a Mauser made luger
The term is cartridge, and the other term is magazine, not clip. Magazines are specific to specific firearms. The magazine for a P08 Luger will not fit a S&W Mdl 39. You will need to visit a gun store.

You're thinking of the Luger P08 (Pistole-Parabellum 1908, named after its creator, Herr Georg L. Luger) manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) during the early 1900's. The most typical sidearm of German officers until the introduction of the Walther P38 in the late 30's. The end of the war caused its final manufacturer, Waffenfabrik Bern, to cease production in 1945."Ruger" is, on the other hand, a current American firearms company started in 1949 Connecticut and is also named after one of its creators.
The Luger P08 (Pistole-Parabellum 1908) was the standard German sidearm up until the introduction of the Walther P38 in 1938. The Luger was the more common to be issued to officers up until its final manufacturer ceased production in 1945.
Needs to be examined by a gunsmith to be safe and sure. Although S&W and the Luger both fire the 9mm cartridge.

Germany used it in WWII and it was a prize for any allied solder to get it off of any German commander The German luger came about early 1900's as the P08. It was used by German forces during WW1 and WW2. Basically there were 3 models: standard pistol with 4" barrel, the artillery model with (about) 8" barrel and the Naval model also with an 8' barrel. The difference between the artillery and naval model was that the artillery model had an elevated rear sight located to the rear of the barrel near the ejection port whereas the naval model had a rear sight similar to the standard model. Lugers came mostly in 9mm but also in 30 cal. luger..........................
WHAT DOES LUGER MEAN IN RELATION TO A GUN? it is a type of pistol made in Germany in the early 1900's and given the name 'luger' after the designer, George Luger. they are calibers 9mm and 30 cal, which has a bottle neck case. the 30 cal cannot be used in a 9mm nor can the 9mm be used in the 30 cal......................
