The first gas used in warfare was mustard gas and nerve gas in World War 1. Thankfully the vast amounts of nerve gas that was produced and stored during World War 2 were not used. Napalm bombs were used first in World War 2. It is considered an incendiary bomb but it is made from gas, detergent and a device to ignite it. It was nasty to be around when it went off. Many people suffered physical problems from Napalm bombs and the Agent Orange used in Viet Nam. The Mustard gas was deadly and damaged those who did not die.
Gas, bio logical warfare
Chlorine gas has a yellowish-green appearance. As relates to warfare and WW1 chlorine gas was first used by the Germans against French troops in the second battle of Ypes, 1914.
In WW I, the first poison gas used was chlorine. This is only moderately poisonous. Later they developed mustard gas and phosgene which are much worse.
No. During that war it was US doctrine to utilize chemical warfare only for retaliation; the US would not use it first. Biological warfare was not US doctrine. Not to be used. The US reserved the right to "first strike" with nuclear weapons.

Warfare using mustard gas and chlorine gas.
Chlorine gas was the first poison gas used in warfare during the Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915. This marked a significant moment in World War I, as it introduced chemical warfare on a large scale. The Germans released the gas, which caused severe respiratory damage and panic among Allied troops. Its use represented a grim evolution in military tactics and had devastating effects on soldiers' health and morale.
Separation of what? If it is the separation of East/West Germany then it is because gas masks were used in Gas Warfare, which was used in WWI and WWII.
The British first used gas in World War I during the Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915. They deployed chlorine gas as a chemical weapon against German forces, marking one of the first large-scale uses of gas in warfare. This tactic aimed to break the stalemate of trench warfare by causing panic and disrupting enemy troops. The use of gas ultimately led to widespread suffering and the introduction of protective measures, such as gas masks.
