Current Mexico's armed forces are composed of some 255,000 professional, combat-ready troops and approximately 300,000 reserve forces, with a total estimated number of 555,000 troops. It is the 25th largest army in the world.

Also, according to some American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) estimates, the Mexican government would be able to mobilize some 38,257,000 troops, from male Mexicans ages 18-49. Of them, some 19 million would be fit to enter the armed forces.
