It depends on the meaning:

Tip - as in end of sharp object : Possibly germanic "tupp".

Tip - as in tip over/overturn: Possibly Scandinavian "tipp/tippe".

Tip - as in give the waiter a tip: I think this derives from the next one;

Tip - as in give a hint: I can only speculate. Perhaps someone was lightly poked with a spear or some other pointy weapon as a warning or hint at what could follow..
