The symbolism of Siddhartha Gautama's birth rests purely in the context of his early life. Being born into extreme wealth and royalty as a young boy he had access to anything and everything he could ever want, however he didn't feel fulfilled by being contained inside the lavished constraints of the palace all of the time, so he set out into the wider world. It was during this time you could consider a symbolic or metaphorical rebirth as he experienced plight, poverty and multiple other issues that were surrounding him the entire time but he was completely unaware of. Through this experience he felt compelled to search for a more significant meaning in his life as opposed to simply returning to his lavished life he was accustomed to.
