The regular bombings of Tokyo killed just as many people as the atomic bombs. The use of the atomic bombs were to motivate the Japanese populous to demand the Emperor and the Military stop the war. The Japanese did realize the US had weapon superiority and could wipe out Japan. The atom bomb dropping took less people to deliver the bomb and no loss of life to deliver the bomb. The conventional bombings took many more planes and airmen with some loss of planes and lives.

There was no 'battle of Blitz'- this is probably referring to the Battle of Britain, 10 July 1940 – 31 October 1940, the heaviest bombing of London and other UK cities by the Luftwaffe, and the regular battles between them and the RAF. Why were children evacuated from london during World War 2?

Children were evacuated from London and large cities to the countryside, partly for their own safety against bombings and possible invasion, and partly to free their parents to focus on the war effort. It was a relief to factory workers, servicemen, and others that their children would be safe and looked after. Visiting days were regular, and train fares often waived or reduced, so families could meet frequently. In England, it was feared that major cities such as London would be bombed by the German Air Force (Luffwaffe). Therefore, many children were evacuated to the countryside for their own safety - it was believed that the countryside was safer and that the children would avoid the horrors of war and the dangers of the bombing campaigns.
