Roanoke Island features sandy beaches, marshlands, forests, and wetlands. It also has some small hills and bluffs along the coastline that provide scenic views of the surrounding waterways. Additionally, the island has a few freshwater rivers and creeks running through it.
The people of Roanoke Island likely lived in small, thatched-roof houses made from wood and plant materials. These houses were typically one-room structures that were either rounded or rectangular in shape. The materials used for construction were readily available on the island.
