The Chilson Surname, depending on which branch of Chilson, comes from Ughborough, Devonshire England. In an area known as wessex. The first Chilson to arrive in America was Walsingham Chilson who settled in MarbleHead, Mass. in 1626. Based on my research, I would say it is an Anglo-Saxon name (i.e. Germanic in decent).
