The Apartheid government in South Africa banned the African National Congress (ANC) on April 8, 1960, following the Sharpeville Massacre. This ban was part of a broader crackdown on organizations opposing the racial segregation policies of the regime. The ANC operated underground for many years until the ban was lifted in 1990, leading to the eventual end of Apartheid.
A municipality may face significant legal challenges in enforcing an ordinance that completely bans religious organizations from canvassing neighborhoods for membership. Such a ban could violate the First Amendment rights of free speech and free exercise of religion, as it restricts religious expression and outreach activities. Courts generally protect the rights of religious organizations to engage in such activities, so any ordinance would need to be carefully crafted to avoid infringing on constitutional protections. Additionally, enforcing such a ban could lead to claims of discrimination against religious groups.
of course there was a ban. they just fought a war, so they wouldn't want to help each other

Princess Diana
Princess Diana. That was a big cause for her.
The International Campaign to Bad Landmines.
I don't think she helped to ban them. She raised money for a charity (HALO) that organised the clearing of old minefields, to reduce the deaths of innocent civilians.
She didn't. There are land mines all over the world. She talked about banning land mines. She made it one of her favorite subjects to talk about. Princess Diana tried to ban land mines, but, she did not succeed in her cause. She is believed to have influenced the signing, though only after her death, of the Ottawa Treaty, which created an international ban on the use of anti-personnel landmines(36). Introducing the second reading of the landmines bill 1998 to the British House of Commons the foreign secretary, Robin Cook, paid tribute to Diana's work on landmines. She travelled to some of the evacuated war zones, and went out on mine-clearing patrols organised by the charity HALO.She was a very popular figurehead, and drew world attention to the mine-clearing operations.
