Getting accepted as ordinary people, by those that are established, racism is also alive and well in Australia, both towards our indigenous people and those that immigrate here. When people move from one country to another even when the language is the same there are many cultural differences and different traditions This makes a person feel like a stranger for a long time. It is even more difficult for people that don't speak the language and if you are in a position where your racial features make one stand out it adds further to the difficulty of settling in. Home sickness is also a real and for some ever present reality.
