The Atomic bomb created the cold war. Atomic weapons created the military stand-off. If Atomic weapons never existed there would have been a WWIII with the USSR/Red China...just like WWII, WWI, etc. etc. etc. The ONLY role the past played in the cold war...was creating it (the bomb).
