Men that fought in Europe during WWII against Germany and fought in Korea stated that Korea was far colder. British Centurion tank tracks froze to the ground and their gasoline engines had to keep running all night to keep from freezing up (failure to start).
The US Armys mighty .30 caliber M1 carbine (and M2 Carbine, the full auto version) which served so well in WWII, froze up constantly in the Korean weather.
The M1 carbine is not to be confused with the M1 garand rifle; both of WWII & Korean War fame.
