Battle of Vercruz
It was sunk by a German ship in World War 2. The German ship was called the Kolomoran. The Kolomoran was disguised as a Dutch ship. The HMAS Sydney came closer to have a look. Too close. The Germans hoisted up a German flag, and the battle started. It was a short battle. The Germans fired two torpedoes. One missed and the other one hit the bow. It was all too much for the Sydney. The last sighting of her was her, chugging over the horizon, smoke billowing from her bow.

It was the BISMARCK battleship, which sank Britain's HOOD in 1941 and was sunk itself a few days later in the Atlantic Ocean close to Brest, France. NO it wasn't. It was the Tirpitz which hid in a Norwegian fjord and was bombed and sunk Tirpitz was 2 metres longer overall and 1200 tons heavier (basic displacement) Tirpitz never fought and so most people think the Bismarck was larger, it was only a similar ship. The Bismarck and Tirpitz were sisterships, but the Tirpitz was a bit larger. Bismarck inflicted severe damage on the British battleship Prince of Wales at the Battle of Denmark Strait, but it was probably the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen which sank the British battle cruiser Hood. The Tirpitz did venture into the Atlantic, but without the success of other German warships.
The Bismarck .
BothIt was a tactical victory for Germany in terms of ships sunk and lives lost, but it was a strategic victory for Britain in that the Grand Fleet was still intact, and the German navy did not again seriously challenge its dominance of European waters Germany took more tonnage and lives at Jutland, but reading the account and been fair the Royal navy were not fully engaged in the battle and still arriving when it was under way.Having said that though i think it is a British victory as the Grand fleet of the Royal navy was still intact and the ones they lost were been replaced in British ship yards after, and the German navy were the first at Jutland to turn back to German shores and never venture out again in WW1, whilst the British continued blockading Germany right till the end therefore remaining the number 1 navy in the world.
