Sports? There were no sports. Although Jamestown survived it failed for several decades to accomplish any thing it set out to do. The fort they built was lethal to the settlers, expensive for investors, and was at war with the Native Americans in the area. The men didn't have any time for play or sports they had to try to stay alive. They came without the proper skills for creating a colony, they wanted to look for gold instead of making sure they had enough food or shelter, and they didn't get supplies. When they first landed with 105 men in 1607 within the first 3 months the number alive was 50. New arrivals swelled the ranks to nearly 400 by the summer of 1609, but a year later it was down to 90 left alive. A few returned to England, but most of the population died from disease and Indian attacks. This pattern continued into 1620's.
