George Washington did not sign the Declaration of Independence. Representatives from all thirteen original colonies signed it, George Washington was not one of them. Some of the more well known men that did sign it was, Thomas Jefferson (Virginia) and John Hancock (Massachusetts, and Hancock was the first signature on the Declaration!) Benjamin Franklin also signed it (Pennsylvania).

Prior to its work on the Declaration of Independence, the Second Continental Congress included Washington as a congressman from Virginia. But he resigned his position as a delegate when Congress formed the Continental Army and appointed him commanding general on June 14, 1775. So he was unavailable to participate, or to sign the Declaration.
