Tigris and Euphrates.
Phoenicians spread the Middle Eastern civilization throughout the Mediterranean.
Tigris and Euphrates Rivers which flow through present day Iraq. The ancient area was called Mesopotamia.
The three Middle Eastern rivers considered to be cradles of civilization are the Tigris, Euphrates, and Nile. The Tigris and Euphrates rivers flow through modern-day Iraq and were vital to the development of ancient Mesopotamian civilizations, such as Sumer and Babylon. The Nile River, flowing through Egypt, was crucial for agriculture and the growth of ancient Egyptian civilization. These rivers provided fertile land and resources, enabling complex societies to flourish.
Numerous important Ancient Civilizations developed in the Middle East. The most famous two were the Ancient Egyptians and the various Mesopotamian Civilizations (like the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, the Neo-Assyrians, and the Neo-Babylonians, etc.). There were also the Persian and Mede Empires, the Hittite and Lydian Anatolian civilizations, the Phoenicians, the Ancient Greek City States, the Israelites (divided between Israel and Judah), and the Arameans.
Civilization arose in these areas, as their were rich land resources; that could be used for farming and agriculture. Due to this, permanent settlements were established and civilization spread outward from there. Note: Greek, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern civilization began in 5000 BC. Chinese civilization began in 4000 BC and Roman civilization did not begin until about 1000 BC. So the world's oldest civilizations are Greek, Egyptian and Sumer (which was in the Middle East).
