The Continental Army used Durham Boats to transport troops, and flat-bottomed Ferry Boats to transport weapons across the Delaware River. The colonists were armed with Long Rifles, Flintlock Muskets, canons, and bayonets....all deadly weapons at their time. The Long Rifles were extremely accurate because the barrel had grooves in it, which curved the bullet. Flintlock Muskets fired deadly balls of grapeshot that caused major damage to flesh. The canons used by the Colonists were also very powerful; a trained crew could fire a canon up to 14 times a minute. The bayonets were 12-14 inch blades attached to the barrel of a musket that caused deep wounds that were hard to seal. The colonists had a deadly force of firepower and manpower...which played a great role in their victory at The Battle Of Trenton.
