This question always gets someone's dander up! It usually is based on
the "unit size". The 100/442 Regimental Combat Team was a segregated
Japanese/American Unit that saw action in 8 major European Campaigns
received 7 Presidential Unit Citation and suffered 9,466 casualties (Purple
Heart), and its members received 20 Congressional Medals of Honor and
52 Distinguished Service Crosses. Counting second awards (Oak Leaf
Clusters) they won 588 Silver Stars and 5,200 Bronze Stars plus about
4 dozen other other individual awards like the Legion of Merit, etc., etc.
I salute them!
