However this plan wouldn't have worked since the Germans lacked air superiority after the Battle of Britain, and couldn't gain naval supremacy in the channel due to a lack of above-water vessels. This would mean that their soldiers would either get strafed by the RAF or blown up by the Royal Navy before they got anywhere near the coast.
