What was Life like in Germany in 1870?

Germany was torn in all directions. Towards the 30's and 40's there was a lot of commotion. New chancellor, Adolf Hitler, was in power, therefore things were up in the air. The Nazi's also enforced many laws, Jews and others were killed. It was a time of unrest.

After the first World War Germany was forced to pay for all the damage caused and demilitarize. But, they still managed to cause our second World War.

Germany was one of the most advanced countries in the world in 1870, a place filled with the smut of industry, the voices of revolutionaries, exotic foods, and high-level fashions. Germany was a great place to live.

People lived in rural areas as well as cities. Activities included tennis, cards and charades. Women began attending college to receive degrees in certain fields of study.

up until the great war she was quite a rich country then spent lots of it on arms, navy etc.. and then during and after the war she was very poor and there was mass poverty and hyperinfation
