A little old lady, Rosa Parks, basically started the Civil Rights Movement. She just refused to sit at the back of a city bus. After her simple act of defiance became widely known, African Americans began refusing to obey Whites Only signs, demanded an end to segregated schools and neighbourhoods.

Charles V issued the Edict of Worms in 1521, which declared Martin Luther a heretic and banned his writings. This edict was a response to Luther's criticisms of the Catholic Church, particularly his 95 Theses.
