Ground troops were in North Africa, Greece, Crete and Italy with the British Eigth Army and in the Solomon and Treasury Islands against the Japanese. Its naval units crewed three cruisers that saw service in both oceans and the smaller vessels served well throughout the conflict. New Zealand aviation units were active in both Europe and the Pacific.
