William Randolph Hearst was an opponent of Imperialism, and openly criticized the British Empire. Although his yellow journalistic tactics resulted in the Spanish American War, his intentions were not to push forward an Imperialist agenda. He deeply admired the Cuban revolutionaries, and was in support of their effort.
