Nobody owned Scotland but there were Queens and Kings, but the last royal Scot on the throne was Queen Mary of Scots but she was executed so the rulers ofEngland (the Tutors) decided to claim Scotland theirs and the Tutors still rule Scotland. Margaret, daughter of Edward the Atheling (King of England), born during her father's exile in Hungary in 1045, married Malcolm III Canmore, King of Scotland, in 1069. She died in 1093, and was mother by Malcolm to eight children in all, including Kings Alexander I of Scotland, and David I of Scotland. She was eventually canonised in 1250, becoming St. Margaret.
