it was horable, there was a lot of mud and rats. dead bodies were beried in "no mans land" at the start of the war but it got to dandures so they staoed, they then decided to leave them or put them into the wall to help it keep its position. often the trenches would fill up with water to ancle height and turn the mud into slush. this gave the soldiors "trench foot."

∙ 12y agoLiving in the trenches were terrible because the have to wear the same soaked socks and wet boots, rats eating dead bodies, lice scattering around your shelter and the next... around your body.

∙ 10y agoLife was miserable for soldiers in the trenches. It was almost always muddy, you got wet feet which could be a major problem. You lived in dirt, you ate in dirt. You could not have a fire tio kep warm or heat food. Food, when you got it was often rotten .
