1. F100 Supre Sabre

2. F101 Voodoo

3. F102 Delta Dagger

4. F104 Starfighter

5. F105 Thunderchief

All were used in the Viet War. The F100 was possibly the USAF's first aerial victory against a North Vietnamese Air Force MiG17 during the war (a probable, flown by CPT Kilgus). The F101 was primarily a reconnaissance jet. The F102 was flown by former President George Bush JUNIOR, and one of those was shot down in aerial combat by a North Viet AF MiG21. For a story on the Starfighter in Vietnam, see the book "Journey in Darkness" by Colonel Phil Smith. The F105 was the USAF's ONLY purpose built single engine Fighter/Bomber & was the largest single engine jet bomber in the inventory.

The F106 Delta Dart never saw combat with US Forces. There was no F103 that saw US service.

Is the war in Aganistain the same as the Vietnam war?

When Afghanistan jet fighters are fighting US jet fighters. When Afghanistan tanks are fighting US tanks. When Afghanistan warships are fighting US warships. When Afghanistan soldiers are fighting US soldiers. Then it will be like Vietnam. Right now, it just a law enforcement issue; finding terrorists, arresting them, or terminating them.

How do you fly jets in frontlines fuel of war?

During the Vietnam War, US jet fighters were modified with a refueling probe located on the wing for F-100 Super Sabres, on top in front of the canopy for F-105 Thunderchiefs, or on the left side near the pilot's cockpit on the F-104 Starfighters. These jet fighter-bombers would rendezvous with orbiting US fuel tankers on the outskirts of the target areas in the skies over North Vietnam. The fuelers were protected by US jet fighters 24/7 who flew a MiGCap (protection from MiG attack/Combat Air Patrol).

What new ideas were used in the Vietnam war?

The most note worthy, is that Vietnam brought back an old idea; the gun. Thanks to the Vietnam War, all US jet fighters now have guns on them, no matter how modern they are...the F22 Raptor has guns...because the Vietnam War was the last war in which US jet fighter pilots fought a determined and competent enemy in jet to jet warfare. The US dog-fighting schools, TOP GUN (USN) and RED FLAG (USAF) were specifically designed based upon the experience gained in the skies over North Vietnam...good old fashioned dog-fighting (air to air combat).

What conflict marked the first aerial combat between what fighters the US built what and the soviet built what?

The question doesn't address whether or not they were jet or prop aircraft. Presumably it's jet planes: The Korean War was the first clash of jets; US jets and airmen vs USSR built jets.

How are the Afghan war and the Vietnam war alike?

When Afghanistan Air Force jet fighters begin dog-fighting US jet fighters in the skies over Afghanistan, then there might be some similiarities; when the enemy (who ever they are) has a GOVERNMENT to negotiate with, then again they might be similiar. As of now, the US is not at with Afghanistan. It is at war with terrorists. A law enforcement problem; find them, arrest them (or kill them), try them in a court of law, and then imprison them or execute them, or let them free; whatever the justice system wills.

The image of fighting jet plane of US?

Look at any of the websites, all show images. The most famous would be the F4 Phantom, the last US jet ace aircraft of the 20th century. And the only combat jet (that saw extensive combat) that was flown by all US branches of service IN COMBAT. The USAF F100 Super Sabre jet is the longest serving "in direct combat" of any US aircraft (1961 to 1971).
