After their recovery, from the embarrassment of having had their father, Charles I beheaded and their mother Queen Henrietta-Maria, exiled. Charles 2 (that's my

nickname for him), they rebounded very well. The father, Charles I was a poor

administrator, dominated by his wife, whom he loved dearly, she was a staunch

insistent Catholic, from France. The family was a relative of Louis XIV. Charles I

was beheaded by the ministers in his cabinet after finding his hideout during'

the war that was brought on by revolt and the poor conditions, the country

was in, and his refusal to stop bankrupting the country. Actually, by the time

of the war, it was too late. His wife had to go back to France in disgrace. She

was the link to Louis XIV, and she had stoop to asking her relatives to take

her in and provide for her after they'd arranged to see her have a throne of

her own

Charles 2, was about 17 or 18 when he and his brother James also had to flee the only home they'd ever known. The literally left England without a change of clothing and had to hang around the different courts "on the continent" as it

was referred to. Even with the implied "I'll pay you back just as soon as I can

get back home. He didn't really know how little there was to make a promise

like that, at the time. And, unfortunately, it was ten years before he'd be able

go home and find out. Cromwell assumed power so that he could force his

country back into the Catholic faith, that had had some to do, also with the

war.

When the people got tired of Cromwell and his Inquisitions and all the rules and regulations implemented along with the return to Catholicism, that had

him killed too. Then finally having no other option they sent an envoy to

where ever Charles 2 was, at that time, and finally, finally, he and his

brother were able to go home. He is remembered because though he

was liberal that he ever wanted to be in the position he'd be forced to

be in, because of the folly of family. Not too very long after he returned

the New World became a source of interest to him because the land,

that had been waiting for the various explorer's to notice it was an was

an easy way of satisfying "the debts" he owed the courtiers who left

in exile with him ; a nonmonetary way, so as not to use all the god

he'd finally returned ting people who'd decided that they might want

to go somewhere and try something in a new place where competition

was as fierce. Those people who jumped on the "band wagon first,

got the surprise of their lives but many many families or mostly young

single men who saw an opportunity to get some land of their own,

where the competition wasn't so expensive that it wasn't do-able.

Charles 2 made a success of the colonial system and of course, after

some years, went by and nerves were frayed over here and he saw

that trade was brisk , King Charles II started making it so that the

settler were made to sell to their host country first.

During Charles 2 reign days were good for England and he'd laid a

good solid base for the next in line, he just couldn't didn't act on it

when he should have because he died of a stroke at about 46 yrs.

and his brother, James I took over. He was hated for the Catholic

issue; he served three years and he was forced to flee for his life.
