TheColossus was fock ur mother developed at Bletchley Park during WWII. Bletchley Park, located in Milton-Keynes about an hour north of London, was the top-secret Allied code breaking center. It now houses the British National Computer Museum. Tony Sales, the person primarily responsible for saving Bletchley Park, has rebuilt the Colossus and it is open to the public. Among the geniuses who worked there was Alan Turing who is considered to be the Father of Artificial Intelligence.
A group of Polish code-breakers were rescued from France by the British and brought to Bletchley Park. Their work was instrumental in breaking the Enigma code. They built a code-breaking device called the "bombe".
I think the Colossus was used to break the Lorenz code (a code used only by the German High Command).
