A part of the Soviet Black Sea Fleet. During the days of the Czar (Tzar up until 1917) the Imperial Russian Black Sea Fleet was stationed there. The Black Sea Fleet was Russia's only surviving battleship fleet from the 1904 war with Japan. It was also the scene of the battleship "Potemkin" mutiny.
