The ted offensive was an unusual and controversial strategy used in the Vietnam War. The idea was to amass a large group of soldiers all named "Ted", with the premise that soldiers with a common feature, in this case a common first name, would be able to fight better than a randomly assembled group. Although the Teds did have lower casualties on average, plans for follow-up groups, Larry and Stanley, were announced but not followed through.
