What weapons did ancient Greeks use?

The ancient Greeks in, say, the Golden Age of ancient Greece, used:

A bronze breastplate (=failaxe), a Bronze helmet (=kranos), a leather shield coated with bronze (=aspis) and kneepads (=periknimides)

As offensive weapons they used an iron short sword(=xifos) about 40-50cm long, a heavy spear(=dory) 8 feet long, made of oak with an iron tip which was used for close combat, a light spear(=akondio) made for throwing. Other throwing weapons used at the time were the longbow(=toxo) and the sling(=sfendona).

In the era of Alexander the great, a new offensive weapon was introduced, the sarrisa, which was a 30ft long spear.

The inside was covered with leather and included an armband for the warrior to grasp. Overall, the shield weighed around 8 kilograms, or 17.5 pounds.
