Just the same as all the other true Plains tribes, Arapaho people historically made their clothes of soft-tanned deer and elk skin (collectively known as buckskin). Buffalo hide was used only for moccasin soles and winter robes.

Arapaho women used rows of elk teeth to decorate their dresses and produced porcupine-quill embroidery before glass beads became available.

Later, blankets were obtained in trade along with coloured glass beads and cloth in red, blue, black or green.
