We had two complaints about the Vietnam War. In the first place, this was a civil war between two halves of a divided country, North Vietnam and South Vietnam, and we did not think that national reunification was necessarily a bad thing, or something that we should not allow the Vietnamese to do. We were not convinced that the war was part of a gigantic communist plot to take over the world, and indeed, it proved not to be. And in the second place, the war was fought almost entirely with conscripted soldiers; we were being drafted against our will to fight and die in a war that we did not even believe in, and which did prove to be an entirely unnecessary and pointless war.

After growing up, they realized that they did not want to enlist in the draft, or have anything to do with war. So, many protests were made. For example, the Teach In Movement.
